Game recap: Ironwood Ridge High School Football Team defeats Apollo

TUCSON, Ariz. - Ironwood Ridge (Tucson, Ariz.) snapped Apollo (Glendale, Ariz.)'s 7-game winning streak, with a 42-30 victory on Saturday.

The Hawks pulled ahead on a kick return touchdown by Evan Clark, and subsequently went into halftime leading 24-22. The Nighthawks scored the winning points with a touchdown run by Tyler Williams that came in the third quarter.

Kylen Green made a difference for Apollo. The senior quarterback ran for two touchdowns. His performance brought his touchdown total to five on the year.

Williams was the top performer for Ironwood Ridge. The senior quarterback threw one touchdown and ran for three touchdowns. He has now scored 15 touchdowns on the season.



Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 43-20 win for IR.

The defeat comes as a step back for Apollo, which notched a 24-20 victory over Horizon in its previous outing.
