Basketball Game Preview: Anderson Indians vs. Marion Giants

The Anderson Indians will face off against the Marion Giants at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Anderson has nine straight victories, Marion has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Anderson will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Hamilton Southeastern, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Anderson came out on top against Hamilton Southeastern by a score of 65-56 last Saturday.

Anderson got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Damien King out in front who posted 20 points and six boards. King's evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Javon Warfield was another key player, putting up 13 points and six assists.

Meanwhile, Marion played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 78-49 loss at the hands of Lafayette Jefferson. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Giants have suffered against the Bronchos since January 18, 2019.

Anderson's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.3 points per game. As for Marion, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-7.

Anderson didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Marion in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 64-59 win. Does Anderson have another victory up their sleeve, or will Marion turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
