Soccer Game Preview: Franklin vs. Elk Grove

Franklin is on a seven-game streak of home wins, while Elk Grove is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Franklin Wildcats will host the Elk Grove Thundering Herd at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Franklin is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.1 goals per game this season.

Franklin's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Monterey Trail 4-0. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked ninth, while the Mustangs are ranked 303rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Franklin hit Monterey Trail with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Christian Azevedo (2), Miles Jones, and Adnan Mohammad.

Meanwhile, Elk Grove's game on Wednesday was all tied up 1-1 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They came out on top against Laguna Creek by a score of 3-1.

Elk Grove's victory bumped their record up to 5-9-4. As for Franklin, their win bumped their record up to 16-0-1.

Franklin took their victory against Elk Grove when the teams last played back in December of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0. Will Franklin repeat their success, or does Elk Grove have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
