Scottsdale Christian Academy is on a six-game streak of home wins, while San Tan Charter is on a seven-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Eagles will welcome the Roadrunners at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Scottsdale Christian Academy knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully San Tan Charter likes a good challenge.
Scottsdale Christian Academy's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Madison Highland Prep 14-0. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.
Luke Troxell made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Hank Berg was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Trevor Green, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
Scottsdale Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .526. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in nine consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, San Tan Charter beat Phoenix Country Day 6-2 on Thursday.
Like Scottsdale Christian Academy, San Tan Charter also got a great game from a two-way player: Braden Peasel. He struck out nine batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Peasel has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run.
Peasel wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Bairyk Schulte, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run. Maddox Schulte was another, earning one run and three stolen bases.
Scottsdale Christian Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for San Tan Charter, their victory bumped their record up to 18-1.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Scottsdale Christian Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .377. However, it's not like San Tan Charter struggles in that department as they've averaged .404. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Scottsdale Christian Academy took their win against San Tan Charter in their previous matchup back in March of 2022 by a conclusive 24-0 score. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Roadrunners turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
