Basketball Recap: East Wake Takes a Loss + How To Watch

East Wake extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to nine on Friday, dropping them down to 0-8. They took a 72-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Northern Nash Knights. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 455th, while the Knights are ranked 63rd).

When it comes to explaining why East Wake lost, don't look at Caden Midgette. Despite the final result, he posted 22 points. Cam Boone was another key player, putting up 12 points.

As for Northern Nash, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 72.6 points this season.

Northern Nash's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Quantay James led the charge by going 8-for-11 on his way to 19 points and seven boards. Thanks to that strong game, James now owns an excellent 49.1% field goal percentage. The team also got some help courtesy of Jah'Marzea Williams, who shot 67% from the field en route to 18 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

East Wake has already played their next matchup, a 58-48 defeat against Fike on the 10th. As for Northern Nash, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 65-62 win against Nash Central on the 9th.
