Softball Game Preview: Central Noble Cougars vs. Eastside Blazers

The Central Noble Cougars will square off against the Eastside Blazers at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Central Noble's pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so Eastside's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Central Noble is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top against Churubusco by a score of 7-4. Winning may never get old, but the Cougars sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Grace Swank made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Swank wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kierra Bolen, who went 1-for-4 with two runs.

Meanwhile, Eastside made easy work of Prairie Heights on Tuesday and carried off a 7-1 victory. The Blazers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 games by six runs or more this season.

Central Noble's record is now 22-5. As for Eastside, their record now sits at 22-6.

Central Noble came out on top in a nail-biter against Eastside when the teams last played on Saturday, sneaking past 4-3. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Blazers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
