Basketball Recap: Dulce Comes Up Short

After flying high against Coronado last Saturday, Dulce came back down to earth. The Dulce Hawks were dealt a 57-28 defeat at the hands of the Laguna Acoma Hawks on Thursday. Dulce was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Laguna Acoma apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Laguna Acoma was led to victory by Brianna Carrillo and Jazmyne Carrillo. Brianna posted 16 points and six rebounds, while Jazmyne went 7 of 11 on her way to 15 points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Lorenzo, who scored six points.

Dulce's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Laguna Acoma, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.

Dulce has already played their next match (against Hozho Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Laguna Acoma is taking a road trip to challenge Bosque at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Laguna Acoma is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.8 points per game this season.
