Volleyball Game Preview: Cathedral Fighting Irish vs. New Castle Trojans

The Cathedral Fighting Irish will face off against the New Castle Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Cathedral is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Indiana's top teams: Roncalli, who was ranked first at the time (Cathedral was ranked third). The Fighting Irish took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Royals on Saturday. The Fighting Irish's defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Despite the loss, Cathedral saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jake Werne had ten digs and one assist.

Meanwhile, New Castle came up short against Shelbyville on Monday, falling 3-0.

Cathedral's defeat dropped their record down to 25-5. As for New Castle, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.
