Football Recap: Chandler Lions vs. Sequoyah Indians

After flying high against Clinton last Friday, Chandler came back down to earth. The Lions took a 24-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sequoyah Indians on Friday. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Indians apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sequoyah to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ridge Blackbear, who rushed for 155 yards. Those 155 rushing yards gave Blackbear a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jakob Rider, who picked up 53 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Chandler's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Sequoyah, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Looking ahead, Chandler will be playing in front of their home fans against Metro Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Patriots' defense has only allowed eight points per game this season, so the Lions' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Sequoyah, they will head out on the road to face off against Dewey at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Indians are facing the Bulldoggers at the right time seeing as the Bulldoggers are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
