Soccer Game Preview: Placer vs. River Valley

The Placer Hillmen will challenge the River Valley Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Placer's last three contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Friday, Placer didn't have quite enough to beat Yuba City and fell 3-2.

Meanwhile, River Valley entered their tilt with Del Campo on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single goal of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Cougars. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 147th, while the Cougars are ranked 571st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Alex Navarette and Cristian Ayala scored both of River Valley's goals, bringing their combined season tally to ten goals.

River Valley's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-2-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 13 goals over those five games. As for Placer, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10-2.
