Basketball Recap: DSST: Conservatory Green Skates Past Rocky Mountain Prep SMART with Ease

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Northfield, DSST: Conservatory Green was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They really took it to the Rocky Mountain Prep SMART Ocelotls for the full four quarters, racking up a 71-43 win. Given the Hornets' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 127th, while the Ocelotls are ranked 286th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading DSST: Conservatory Green to victory were Davon Allen and Kenny Van. Allen went 9 of 15 on his way to 21 points along with seven steals and five rebounds, while Van went 6 for 11 en route to 14 points in addition to seven steals and five boards. That's the most steals Allen has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Sean Jones, who posted 14 points.

DSST: Conservatory Green was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

DSST: Conservatory Green's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-4. As for Rocky Mountain Prep SMART, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. DSST: Conservatory Green will venture away from home to face off against DMLK at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. DSST: Conservatory Green is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.7 points per game this season. As for Rocky Mountain Prep SMART, they will head out to challenge DSST: Montview at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
