Softball Recap: South Ripley Takes a Loss

South Ripley had lost four straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 1-5 to make it five. They lost 14-0 to the Lawrenceburg Tigers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Raiders of the 23-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2023.

South Ripley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Julia Hilton, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

As for Lawrenceburg, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 7-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games.

On Lawrenceburg's side, they got a big performance out of Reigha Ghiatis, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Izabella Miller, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.

South Ripley has already played their next game (against South Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Lawrenceburg, they will head out on the road to square off against Oldenburg Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Twisters have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.33 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
