Soccer Game Preview: Catawba Ridge vs. Clover

The Catawba Ridge Copperheads will challenge the Clover Blue Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Catawba Ridge is likely headed into the match with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against South Point on Wednesday. The Copperheads fell just short of the Red Raiders by a score of 1-0. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Catawba Ridge came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' soccer rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 15th in South Carolina, while South Point are ranked 87th in North Carolina).

Meanwhile, Clover unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Nation Ford. The shutout was out of character for Clover seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

Catawba Ridge's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-6. As for Clover, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-7.
