Basketball Recap: George Washington Find Success

George Washington proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by 35) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged the Halifax County Comets out 40-37. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since December 13, 2024.

George Washington is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-7 record this season. As for Halifax County, they dropped their record down to 7-11 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.

George Washington and Halifax County could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings. George Washington (ranked 203rd) will meet Carlisle (ranked 62nd) at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Similarly, Halifax County will challenge Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on Monday down 233 places (292 vs. 59).
