Basketball Recap: Bishop Machebeuf Buffaloes vs. Dayspring Christian Academy Eagles

After a string of three wins, the Bishop Machebeuf Buffaloes's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They had to suffer through a rough 59-28 loss at the hands of Dayspring Christian Academy. While losing is never fun, Bishop Machebeuf can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 211th, while the Eagles are ranked 81st).

Despite the loss, Bishop Machebeuf saw an underclassman step up: Eve Brustkern scored 14 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Brustkern is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Karmen Bert, who scored seven points along with two steals.

Eboselulu Omofoma was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 32 points and 14 rebounds for Dayspring Christian Academy. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Omofoma has scored all season. Faith Hayward was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.

Bishop Machebeuf's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Dayspring Christian Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bishop Machebeuf won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Dayspring Christian Academy will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Hopefully SkyView Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 last Friday.
