Softball Recap: Montgomery Gets the Win

Montgomery's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They walked away with an 8-3 win over the Kearny Komets. The Aztecs haven't had any issues with the Komets recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Alexa Torres was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Torres was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one triple.

In other batting news, Brianna Herrera was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Jordyn Coleman was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.

Montgomery's win bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Kearny, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.

Montgomery didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 8-1 loss against Sweetwater on the 29th. As for Kearny, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Southwest SD at 3:30 p.m. on April 9. Kearny's pitchers better be ready for this one: Southwest SD has averaged an impressive 13.9 runs per game this season.
