Huge 17-8 win over previous No. 3 Knights lifts Owls to No. 16.

Three weeks off evidently did wonders for the football team at Memphis University. The Owls bounced 14 spots after a resounding 17-8 victory Friday over previous No. 3 Pope John Paul II to move to No. 16 in this week's MaxPreps Tennessee high school football computer rankings.

Memphis University last played on Sept. 25, a 35-3 win over Arlington, before pulling off the upset of the Knights, who got 200 yards passing from Kenny Minchey.

Edwin Shy and Chris Goodwin rushed for touchdowns and George Howard kicked a field goal for the Owls, who improved to 5-2.

Top-ranked Brentwood Academy (8-0) was idle, but second ranked Christ Presbyterian Academy used superior defense and rushing touchdowns from four different players to post a 36-0 win over Goodpasture Christian. Tyler Reid rushed for 136 yards on 11 carries for the winners. Grant Rinker added a 68-yard touchdown run.
