Basketball Recap: Malone Skates Past Sneads with Ease

Malone posted their biggest victory since January 16th on Thursday. They breezed by the Sneads Pirates to the tune of 66-30. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Tigers as it put an end to their five-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Malone was led to victory by Belicia Faust and Yalaysha Barnes. Faust went 9 of 18 on her way to 22 points and three steals, while Barnes dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 boards. Barnes has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played. Janiya Brelove was another key player, putting up 13 points and three steals.

Malone smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 29 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive games.

Malone's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Sneads, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season.

Malone wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 58-23 defeat against Blountstown on the 16th. Sneads will take on Liberty County in a holiday battle at at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Liberty County's defense has only allowed 24.5 points per game this season, so Sneads' offense will have their work cut out for them.
