Baseball Recap: Seton LaSalle Comes Up Short

Seton LaSalle was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Charleroi Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 on April 1st.

Anthony LoCastro was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out nine batters over 5.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Seton LaSalle saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Roman Lonero, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Seton LaSalle now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Charleroi, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-4.

Coming up, Seton LaSalle will be playing at home against Washington at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Prexies will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last. As for Charleroi, they will venture away from home to take on Belle Vernon at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cougars 4, the Leopards 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
