Soccer Recap: Woodruff Comes Up Short

After flying high against Legacy Early College last Thursday, Woodruff came back down to earth. The Woodruff Wolverines lost 7-0 to the Powdersville Patriots on Tuesday. The Wolverines were red-hot offensively heading into the contest (they scored no less than four goals in the three matchups prior), but the Patriots' defense proved too tough.

Woodruff's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 3-4. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 25 goals over those three games. As for Powdersville, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1.

Coming up, Woodruff will host Broome at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Woodruff has given up an average of 3.4 goals per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week. As for Powdersville, they will head out to face off against Southside Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
