Cypress was not the first on the board on Thursday, but they got there more often. They skirted past the Esperanza Aztecs 5-3. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 3-1 win back in April.

Alexis 'Chach' Stamper spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits.

On the hitting side, Cypress saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Delaney 'D.J.' Faus, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Tia Hernandez also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Cypress is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Esperanza, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 17 of their last 20 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-21 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Cypress will face off against rival El Modena at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Centurions 3.4, the Vanguards 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Esperanza is set to challenge their familiar foe Canyon at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
