Baseball Game Preview: Eastern Comets vs. Northwestern Tigers

Eastern hasn't had much luck against Northwestern recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Comets will head out on the road to take on the Tigers at 11:00 a.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Northwestern will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Eastern extended their winning streak to three on Friday. The Comets were the clear victors by a 20-5 margin over Tri-Central.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northwestern). They put the hurt on West Lafayette with a sharp 16-4 victory on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Red Devils: they've now won three in a row.

Michael Arrick was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Correll, who went 2-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI.

Northwestern hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in eight consecutive games.

Eastern's record now sits at 15-6. As for Northwestern, their record is now 13-3.

Eastern came up short against Northwestern in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, falling 8-4. Can the Comets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
