Softball Game Preview: Port Allen Pelicans vs. East Iberville Tigers

Port Allen has gone a perfect 4-0 against East Iberville recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Pelicans are taking a road trip to take on the Tigers at 3:30 p.m. Port Allen is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.

Port Allen is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Wednesday. They came up short against Rapides, falling 16-1.

Port Allen saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Riley Sproles, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Sproles is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.

East Iberville never got on the board in their matchup on Tuesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against North Iberville on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Bears with a sharp 22-12 victory. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won six contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

East Iberville got a massive performance out of M. Arthur, who went 3-for-4 with five stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Arthur continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of H. Gilmore, who scored five runs and stole eight bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Port Allen's loss dropped their record down to 7-13. As for East Iberville, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-13.

East Iberville's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Port Allen hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .316. It's a different story for East Iberville, though, as they've only averaged .233. Will they be able to contain Port Allen's hitters?

Port Allen took their victory against East Iberville in their previous meeting back in February by a conclusive 14-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pelicans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
