Preview: Jackson Academy Eagles vs. Crenshaw Christian Academy Cougars
Two dominant signal callers in Huntley Dees and Brayden Moore are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Jackson Academy Eagles will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Crenshaw Christian Academy Cougars at 7:00 p.m.
Two weeks ago, Jackson Academy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 34-30 to Wilcox Academy. Jackson Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Chuck Richardson, who picked up 118 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Dees, who threw for 291 yards and a touchdown while completing 76.9% of his passes.
Meanwhile, Crenshaw Christian Academy put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Snook Christian Academy 62-0 at home. The win was just what Crenshaw Christian Academy needed coming off of a 49-2 loss in their prior contest.
Jake Lawrence was on fire: he rushed for 213 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 12.5 yards per carry. Drake Mills was another key contributor, rushing for 125 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.
Crenshaw Christian Academy's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Moore.
Wilcox Academy's victory bumped their season record to 8-3 while Jackson Academy's defeat dropped theirs to 8-2.
Jackson Academy strolled past Crenshaw Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 by a score of 22-6. Does Jackson Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Crenshaw Christian Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
