Softball Recap: Montabella Mustangs vs. Vestaburg Wolverines

Montabella extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 2-5 in the process. They lost 20-5 to the Vestaburg Wolverines. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolverines this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-0 on Thursday.

Montabella saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Katelyn Pifer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base marked the first that Pifer has snagged this season.

As for Vestaburg, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 8-0. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by ten runs or more this season.

On Vestaburg's side, Sasha Page was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Page was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Vestaburg let Megan Beetley and Addison Neelis run wild. Beetley went 3-for-4 with six RBI, three runs, and one double, while Neelis went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those six RBI gave Beetley a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kelsey Cole, who went 1-for-2 with three runs and one RBI.
