Soccer Game Preview: St. Petersburg vs. St. Petersburg Catholic

The St. Petersburg Green Devils will take on the St. Petersburg Catholic Barons in a holiday battle at at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Petersburg is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.8 goals per game this season.

St. Petersburg is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Northeast just ended the team's eight-game winning streak on Friday. They and the Vikings finished up their game with a 1-1 draw. The result kept the Green Devils happy, as they haven't lost a game yet this season.

Their goal came courtesy of Gianni Inman, which was the first he's scored this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Petersburg Catholic). Their defense stepped up to hand Cristo Rey Tampa an 8-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Barons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by three goals or more this season.

St. Petersburg's draw makes their record 8-0-1 this season. As for St. Petersburg Catholic, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-2-1.
