Basketball Recap: Shaun Hamilton Key Part of a Team Effort in Indians Win

After losing to Eagle Academy the last time they met, Weequahic decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Weequahic Indians enjoyed a cozy 68-49 victory over Eagle Academy on Thursday. The Indians pushed the score to 48-28 by the end of the third, a deficit Eagle Academy cut but never quite recovered from.

Weequahic's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shaun Hamilton, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards. What's more, Hamilton also racked up three assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. James Porter was another key player, putting up 13 points in addition to seven assists and six steals.

Weequahic was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

The victory got Weequahic back to even at 11-11. As for Eagle Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.

Weequahic wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 51-44 win against Nutley on the 7th. As for Eagle Academy, they will challenge Tech at 4:00 p.m. on February 13th.
