Football Game Preview: Langley Saxons vs. Washington-Liberty Generals

Langley is 2-8 against Washington-Liberty since October of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Saxons will square off against the Generals at 7:00 p.m. Langley is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.

On Thursday, Langley strolled past George C. Marshall with points to spare, taking the game 28-10. Given the Saxons' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 70th, while the Statesmen are ranked 207th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cole Samburg produced another solid effort rushing for 91 yards and one score on only seven carries, while also throwing for 127 yards and one touchdown while completing 72.2% of his passes. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in November of 2024.

Meanwhile, Washington-Liberty fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Yorktown on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 31-24 to the Patriots.

Langley will have to contain Brayden Black as he made an impact in Washington-Liberty's last game. He rushed for 193 yards and three TDs while picking up 8.4 yards per carry.

Washington-Liberty's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 7-2. As for Langley, their record now sits at an identical 7-2.

Langley came up short against Washington-Liberty when the teams last played back in November of 2024, falling 20-14. Can the Saxons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
