Volleyball Recap: Wayne County Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Briell Domi and Hannah Denney

If Wayne County was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Lincoln County on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cardinals took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the East Jessamine Jaguars on Saturday. The Cardinals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Jaguars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Wayne County's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Hannah Denney, who had 17 assists and eight digs, and Briell Domi, who had three digs and two aces. Domi is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last five games she's played.

Wayne County moved to 16-11 with that defeat, which also ended their three-match winning streak. As for East Jessamine, their win bumped their record up to 10-12.

Wayne County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against Trinity Christian Academy on the 4th. As for East Jessamine, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Rockcastle County on the 4th.
