Basketball Game Preview: Ocosta Wildcats vs. Taholah Chitwhins

The Ocosta Wildcats will head out to square off against the Taholah Chitwhins at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Saturday, Ocosta narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Crescent 31-29.

Ocosta found their leader in sophomore Elly Mirante, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 16 rebounds. Those 16 boards set a new season-high mark for Mirante.

Ocosta smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Meanwhile, Taholah waltzed into their game on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They breezed by the Elks to the tune of 59-9. The Chitwhins have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 21 points or more this season.

Taholah pushed their record up to 12-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.3 points per game. As for Ocosta, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 4-10 record this season.

Ocosta was dealt a bruising 61-12 defeat at the hands of Taholah in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Can Ocosta avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
