Baseball Recap: Windsor Wizards vs. Severance Silver Knights
Windsor took care of business in their home opener on Tuesday. They walked away with a 13-8 victory over the Severance Silver Knights.
Grant Kerber made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other pitching news, Marcus Hull looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk).
Back at the plate, Windsor got a massive performance out of Ethan Fillinger, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Chris Valerio, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Windsor always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Severance only posted an OBP of .306.
Severance is on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.
Looking ahead, Windsor will square off against Roosevelt at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Severance, they will host Thompson Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The contest will give Severance their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season.
