Softball Recap: Tates Creek Comes Up Short

Tates Creek extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 7-16 in the process. They came up short against the Lafayette Generals, falling 9-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Commodores have suffered since May 10, 2024.

Tates Creek saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madison Bowman, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

As for Lafayette, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games.

On Lafayette's side, Rylan Music made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. Music was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addison Combs, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Mckenzie Harney, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Coming up, Tates Creek will challenge Greenup County at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. The Musketeers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so the Commodores' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Lafayette, they are taking a road trip to square off against Woodford County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Generals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Yellowjackets have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season.
