League recap: St. Gerard Catholic gets boost after one league win in week

TAPPS 3A District 5 league recap: 4/3/13

St. Gerard Catholic had the most successful week out of all the teams in TAPPS 3A District 5, as it came away with one league win. San Juan Diego Catholic defeated the Saints 22-2.

Jacob Ruiz was the hottest hitter in the league this week, racking up a .600 average, one home run and four RBIs. St. Gerard Catholic went 1-0.

The Royals' pitching staff had a strong showing this week, allowing only four hits and one walk, both of which led the league.

There were seven hitters that batted over .400 in the league this week. They were led by Eric Jones, who hit 1.000 this week (4-for-4).

Our Lady of the Hills's Zach Barrientos led the league in strikeouts this week with six. With 20 strikeouts this year so far, he ranks fifth in the league.



Ruiz drove in four runners as St. Gerard Catholic defeated San Juan Diego Catholic 22-2 on Thursday. He went 3-for-5 and scored one run.
