Softball Recap: South Davidson Wins Going Away Against Lexington

South Davidson got themselves on the board against Lexington on Thursday, but Lexington never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 21-0 margin over the Yellowjackets. That looming 21-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Wildcats yet this season.

Payton Cook made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kacie Gordon, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, four runs, and one triple. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bella Lewis, who went 1-for-3 with five RBI, one triple, and one run.

South Davidson's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Lexington, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

South Davidson has already played their next game, a 14-0 defeat against West Davidson on the 28th. As for Lexington, they are taking a road trip to challenge Thomasville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lexington is facing Thomasville at the right time seeing as Thomasville is stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
