Basketball Recap: Choctawhatchee's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Friday

Choctawhatchee won the last time they faced Bay and things went their way on Friday too. The Choctawhatchee Indians came out on top against the Bay Tornadoes by a score of 42-31. Given the Indians' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 130th, while the Tornadoes are ranked 308th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bay lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Breanah Peace, who posted five points and 13 rebounds. Peace has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last nine times she's played. Nevaeh Childs was another key player, putting up 15 points and five rebounds.

Choctawhatchee is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-9 record this season. As for Bay, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Choctawhatchee will head out to challenge Pine Forest at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bay, they will venture away from home to take on Florida State University High School at 7:30 p.m. on January 18th.
