Recap: Wakpala Sioux vs. Bison Cardinals

The Wakpala Sioux had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.8 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. Everything went their way against Bison as Wakpala made off with a 62-41 win. This was payback for Wakpala, who suffered a 56-55 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Several Cardinals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rylee Veal, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds. That was a full 43.9% of Bison's points, marking the 17th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyle Stadler, who scored six points along with six steals.

Wakpala has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. As for Bison, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-11.

Wakpala won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Cheyenne-Eagle Butte at 5:30 p.m. on February 10th. Wakpala has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 327 points over their last five contests. As for Bison, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Takini at 7:00 p.m. Takini knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Bison likes a good challenge.
