Preview: Bell Griffins vs. Banneker Bulldogs
The Bell Griffins will head out on the road to face off against the Banneker Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Bell is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Wednesday, Bell faced Roosevelt in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Bell was outmatched by Roosevelt on the road and fell 62-13. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Bell in their matchups with Roosevelt: they've now lost five in a row.
Meanwhile, Banneker took their contest on the road on Wednesday with ease, bagging a 45-11 victory over Woodson. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 39-8.
Banneker found their leader in underclassman Promise Njoku, who scored 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rainelle McNeill, who scored nine points.
Bell's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Banneker, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Bell took a serious blow against Banneker when the teams last played back in January, falling 48-0. Can Bell avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
