Baseball Recap: Reardan Screaming Eagles vs. Asotin Panthers

Reardan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They wound up on the wrong side of a tough 31-5 walloping at the hands of the Asotin Panthers. Reardan lost against Asotin in their previous head to head on Tuesday, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 4-3 score last time.

For Asotin's part, AJ OLERICH made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (he also only allowed one walk). OLERICH has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive pitching appearances. OLERICH was even better at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and a triple.

Back at the plate, GAVIN ELLS was incredible, going 5-for-6 with four runs, four RBI, and a stolen base. JUSTIN BOYEA was another key contributor, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-5.

Reardan's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Asotin, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Reardan is on the road again on Tuesday to play Kettle Falls at 2:00 p.m. As for Asotin, they will square off against Northwest Christian School at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Asotin is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.
