Baseball Recap: Monett Find Success

Monett owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past the Ash Grove Pirates 1-0.

The result came thanks to Pablo Rueda's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Monett saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Samuel Carr, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Monett has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Ash Grove, their loss dropped their record down to 16-2-1.

Monett and Ash Grove should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings. The Cubs will take on Sarcoxie at 4:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (126 vs. 311). Meanwhile, Ash Grove (ranked 62nd) will meet Dadeville (ranked 215th) at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
