Preview: Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks vs. Maricopa Rams
The Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks will head out on the road to face off against the Maricopa Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Ironwood Ridge is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road.
Ironwood Ridge stacked a sixth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They breezed by Nogales on the road to the tune of 54-0. Ironwood Ridge had a rough season last year, but they look ready to turn that poor record around this year.
Dominic Norris was his usual excellent self, throwing for 222 yards and four touchdowns on only 18 passes. Norris is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last three games he's played. Matthew Kroner was in the mix too, providing Ironwood Ridge with two touchdowns.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Nogales to a paltry 34 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Ironwood Ridge's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out four times before it was all said and done. Nogales' QB won't forget Oluwanifemi Femi-adeleye anytime soon given Femi-adeleye sacked him four times.
Meanwhile, Maricopa had to suffer through a rough 42-14 loss at the hands of Mountain View. Maricopa was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-7.
Ironwood Ridge's victory bumped their season record to 7-1 while Maricopa's loss dropped theirs to 3-5.
