Softball Game Preview: Thurston Eagles vs. Annapolis Cougars

Thurston hasn't had much luck against Annapolis recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Eagles will look to defend their home field against the Cougars at 4:00 p.m. Thurston has given up an average of 9.6 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Thurston is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 16 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Garden City on Wednesday. They lost 18-1 to the Cougars.

Meanwhile, Annapolis didn't have quite enough to beat Edsel Ford on Friday and fell 18-16. The Cougars have struggled against the Thunderbirds recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Chloe Britton was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-5 with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Mousseau, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles.

Thurston's loss dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Annapolis, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-7.

Thurston might still be hurting after the 21-14 loss they got from Annapolis in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
