Softball Recap: Harriman Comes Up Short

Harriman dropped their record down to 8-11 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Roane County Yellowjackets by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Blue Devils have suffered since March 18th.

As for Roane County, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-2. Four seems to be a good number for they as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

For Roane County's part, Sailor Presley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up 19 Ks. Presley has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on AJ Sandival, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That double was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Rhyan Henslee, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harriman will challenge South-Doyle at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cherokees' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Blue Devils' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Roane County, they will head out on the road to challenge Wartburg Central at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Yellowjackets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
