Softball Game Preview: Centennial Golden Hawks vs. Stockdale Mustangs

For the second straight game, Centennial will face off against Stockdale. The Golden Hawks will challenge the Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Centennial's pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so Stockdale's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Centennial is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Stockdale just ended the team's seven-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 3-1. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Golden Hawks couldn't push the score so high this time.

Reese Stover spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Centennial saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayden Holland, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.

Stockdale has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for Centennial, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-8.
