League recap: Diamond rises, Pierce City falls in league standings

Spring River Valley league recap: 3/20/13

Diamond made the biggest jump in the standings this week, moving from seventh to second place in Spring River Valley thanks to a 1-2 record over the past seven days. Meanwhile, Pierce City fell hardest in the standings, dropping from second all the way to fourth place after going 0-1 in the past week. Miller (1-0) is the No. 1 team in the league.

The Cardinals came away with the most wins outside of league play this week (one) among the league teams. Miller defeated the Wildcats 3-1.

Diamond's pitching staff had a strong showing this week, allowing only 17 hits and seven walks, both of which led the league.

Ryan Jinks was an RBI machine on Tuesday, as he knocked in four runs during the Wildcats' 14-1 win over Exeter. He went 3-for-4 and scored two runs.



Brodie Bien led the Cardinals to a win on March 18, as he notched 13 strikeouts to beat Diamond, 3-1. Over his five innings pitched he allowed three runs on three hits.
