Recap: Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cougars vs. Archbishop Spalding Cavaliers
If the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cougars were riding high off their 65-41 takedown of the Howard Lions last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Our Lady of Mount Carmel took a 43-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Archbishop Spalding on Wednesday. Our Lady of Mount Carmel was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Archbishop Spalding apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February.
Archbishop Spalding's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Eden Berry led the charge by scoring 14 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Whitley Watkins, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds.
Our Lady of Mount Carmel's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Archbishop Spalding, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-3.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Mercy the next time they take the court. Our Lady of Mount Carmel will host Mercy at 5:15 p.m. on Friday, while Archbishop Spalding will head out to face them at 5:15 p.m. on Monday.
