Palo Verde faced Shadow Ridge in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Mustangs. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Panthers have posted against the Mustangs since November 7, 2019.

While Palo Verde won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The final score came out to 25-17, 25-22, 25-20.

Jovani Corniel paced Palo Verde's offense, picking up 13 kills. Corniel got some help from Reagan Cope and her 17 assists. Finally, Bella Berenato and Alexis Lunkwitz kept the team grounded on defense, each having blocked three attacks.

Palo Verde's win bumped their record up to 14-16. As for Shadow Ridge, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 20-16.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Palo Verde will venture away from home to take on Coronado at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Shadow Ridge, they will host Spring Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
