Softball Recap: Old Lyme's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak on the Road

After only one run in their last contest, Old Lyme made sure to put some runs up on the board against Portland on Friday. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 16-5 margin over the Highlanders. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won eight matches by nine runs or more so far this season.

Old Lyme's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-7. As for Portland, they dropped their record down to 6-12 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Old Lyme will challenge Haddam-Killingworth at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 10.2 runs per game this season. As for Portland, they will face off against Suffield at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
