Baseball Recap: Gila Bend Has No Trouble Against Wickenburg Christian Academy

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against A+ Charter School, Gila Bend was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They blew past the Wickenburg Christian Academy Lion 13-7. The Gila Monsters might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by six runs or more this season.

Easton Fernandez made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4. He also brought in three RBI, which is notable because Gila Bend is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 1-2 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Crash Davis, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Zadrian Enos was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Gila Bend kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Gila Bend's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Wickenburg Christian Academy, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.

Gila Bend has already played their next game, an 11-9 defeat against Trinity Christian on the 7th. As for Wickenburg Christian Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 6-6 draw against Holy Family Academy on the 7th.
