Baseball Game Preview: St. Brendan Sabres vs. Westminster Christian Warriors

St. Brendan is 0-5 against Westminster Christian since March of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The St. Brendan Sabres will head out to face off against the Westminster Christian Warriors at 3:30 p.m. St. Brendan will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

On Thursday, St. Brendan beat TERRA Environmental 6-2.

Justin Cardenas looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits.

At the plate, Luciano Nava and Jan Perez Fernandez did most of the damage at the plate: Nava went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Perez Fernandez scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. What's more, Perez Fernandez also racked up two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Diego Alvarez, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Westminster Christian had just enough and edged Doral Academy out 3-1 on Thursday.

Westminster Christian also got a great performance from Aaron Hernandez as he tossed 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.

On the hitting side, Juan Godoy was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Eric Eikenberg was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

St. Brendan's record is now 3-0. As for Westminster Christian, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

St. Brendan suffered a grim 8-2 defeat to Westminster Christian in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can St. Brendan avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
