Baseball Recap: Monticello Snags Seventh Win in Last Nine Games

Monticello won the last time they faced Zimmerman and things went their way on Monday too. The Magic were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Thunder.

Koen Schlangen looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Easton Peters, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was his first of the season. Carson Deibele was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Monticello was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Zimmerman only posted a batting average of .263.

Monticello is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Zimmerman, they dropped their record down to 3-11 with the loss, which was their seventh straight at home.

Looking ahead, Monticello will challenge Chisago Lakes Area at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Zimmerman, they will square off against Orono at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
